Daily Motivating Quotes: Number 435

“Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (The Rainy Day)

Daily Motivating Quotes: Number 434

“If we’re going to get the most out of the talent
we’re born with
we have to be prepared to analyse ourselves critically
and improve our weakest points.
It’s true that you want to play to your strengths,
but if there is too much of an imbalance growth is limited.”

Inspiration Messages: Be Reliable

Continuing the short series on values and words of motivation that should help you become the person you want to be, I think life would be that much more sweet if we each gained a reputation for dependability.

If you know other people see you are reliable and dependable, your self-image will receive a massive boost – more perhaps than many words of motivation. Those close to you will feel more positive towards you and this, in turn, will help you feel more positive about yourself.

Let me explain: I am sure you have found yourself in the situation where you are organising an event, perhaps a social gathering. You invite people to come along and many say they will be there. Come the day however and only a few actually turn up. How do you feel? Disappointed? Of course you do. You would feel that these people who did not turn up were saying that you were not important enough for them to commit to your event.

Being unreliable in this way is a great way to offend others.

Punctuality has often been a challenge for me in the past and yet this also can cause offence and the self-image of both parties. If you arrive bang on the time you said you would this is an unspoken compliment to the person waiting for you.

This is particularly true in business. Several times trades people have told me they would turn up at a certain time to do some work and they are substantially late; the chances of my using their expertise in the future is reduced considerably.

If others know you can be relied upon to keep your word and deliver your promises, and more, then your relationships will be stronger and those around you will provide words of motivation that will be invaluable for your self-development.

One of the greatest compliments I have ever received was when a friend told me I was ‘a rock’ and could always be depended upon. Try becoming dependable and you will be amazed at the inspirational messages it will bring.

“Never give in – never, never, never, never,
in nothing great or small, large or petty,
never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.
Never yield to force;
never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
