Inspiration Messages: Seek Out The Attic People

Seek Out the Attic People

By Dr. Daisy Sutherland, http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Daisy_Sutherland

You’re probably wondering what exactly are attic people. Well keep reading because you will soon find out. Take a look around you. Do you see happy and content people or do you see miserable and confused people? Which are you attracted to? Too often folks would rather stay in the middle but still tend to migrate towards the misery. Perhaps there is some truth to the saying ~ Misery loves company.

The attic people are those that find sunshine amidst the clouds. They are the ones that see the glass half full, instead of half empty. Some would consider them to be ‘positive people’ when compared to the miserable ones that are often called, ‘negative people’. Let’s not mistake the fact that the ‘attic people’ are human too. They have feelings, suffer from pain and loss, suffer from the economy just as anyone else. However, they are different as well. Instead of dwelling on the negative or merely mentioning a negative thought, they would rather look on the bright side. The ‘attic people’ will be the ones you turn to for motivation and inspiration.

The opposite of the ‘attic people’ can be considered the ‘basement dwellers’. The ‘basement dwellers’ are quite comfortable in their less than happy situation. Now don’t get me wrong….by no means are either of these types better than the other. There is however a distinct difference. Which would you rather be near? Some would say that the ‘attic people’ are annoying because they are always happy, or again, find the positive in all situations.

A happy medium is essential for the well being of individuals. In order to experience painful situations, you must acknowledge them, however it doesn’t mean that you must live your life dwelling on the negative. Remember pain is essential and suffering is an option. From pain we learn and can apply such lessons to our lives and those around us. Suffering is not healthy and again a choice. Seek out the ‘attic people’. They are ones that are happy and content and believe it or not will influence those around them. Again, the ‘attic people’ are not unstained or without hurt or pain, they simply choose not to suffer and live life to the fullest.

Identify the type of person you are and determine if your life will be happier if different. Personally, I choose to seek the ‘attic people’ but again that is my choice. Which type will you choose?

Daily motivating Quotes: Number 229

“When we feed ourselves full of possibilities, we gain courage.

And, even in small amounts, courage begins to displace fear.

Most of us want to experience life to the fullest, and not let fear hold us back.

To do so we need to become childlike (not childish) again – full of wonder without fear.”

Words Of Motivation: Are You being The Real You?

Are You Being The Real You?

By Kate Harper, http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kate_Harper

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Your than You.” – Dr Seuss (1904-1991)

Last week I was driving from home to pick up my eldest son, who has just completed his first year of University. It was a cold day, and I could see new snow on the tops of the mountains. The day had started with torrential rain, but by the time I left, it was pretty dry, and there was even quite a lot of sunshine on the way down. On the way, there is a long stretch where there is nothing much to see except trees on either side of the road. It can be quite boring to see just trees, but at this time of the year, when the leaves have grown, with all their different shades of green, I began to notice the incredible variety, not only in the types of trees, but also the diversity that existed between trees of the same species. (And, yes, I was also careful about paying attention to the road too!) Some of them seemed to have distinct personalities and quirks. It made me think of us!

It seems that so many of us try very hard to be like everyone else and conform to the norm, possibly in order to stay hidden in the crowd and not bring attention to ourselves. (Actually, that’s not me. I like bright clothes and tend to talk too much!) However, I really wish that we could celebrate our differences and allow ourselves to let the world see what wonderful, unique beings we are. Yes, we do have much in common with others, and that is something we can be proud of, but it is in our differences that we also have so much to offer. I don’t know about you, but I love meeting new people and getting to hear about their lives and adventures, as well as going to new places and also trying out new food.

There are some people I may never be best buddies with, but that doesn’t make me not want to spend time with them, and to value who they are. Not all the places I have been to have been particularly pleasant, and I haven’t liked all the new foods I have tried, but if I always gravitated towards those things that I felt ‘safe’ with, I would have missed out on some wonderful experiences and some fascinating and incredible people. So may I suggest that we all open our eyes from now on and notice the diversity of people and things around us? Embrace it, experience it, and make up your own mind whether you want to do it again! Value yourself for what makes you YOU, and let others get to know that person, not the one that toes the line and hides behind a mask of conformity.

It is time to stop measuring yourself against others. Yes, you can aspire to be like someone, but you will never become them. If there is someone who you particularly admire, it is OK to consider what it is about them that you feel drawn to and see if you can develop your own brand of whatever that is. Make it your own. It could be that they are warm and friendly listeners. You can do that too. It could be that they present themselves really well. You can do that too. They could be great communicators. That could be you too. However, if you admire them for what they have, not for who they are, then it is time to reassess your own values. It can be an uncomfortable experience learning to live in our own skin, however, it is the only one you have, and it is yours alone, so choose to make the most of it and of yourself, and to love and accept who you are. There is a saying that you cannot truly love and care for anyone else if you don’t already feel the same way about yourself. It seems to me that this is true. What do you think?

Being ‘yourself’ can be something of a challenge, as most of us have had a lifetime of managing other people’s expectations concerning who we are, what we think and how we behave. Being the person you want to be can involve showing the many parts of you that you may have kept hidden, expressing ideas and opinions that are dear to you that you have kept quiet before now, and making choices of all kinds concerning people and things. Being you reveals to the world that you have something special to offer and this can take courage. It can feel like you are starting all over again and re-writing who you are. Everything to this point has shaped who you have become and much of it may still remain hidden. We are moulded by our failures, as much as by our successes. Nothing is wasted. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself to let your unique light shine brightly? I would be so sad to think that you feel the need to suppress all that makes you you and encourage you, even if it is little by little, to start celebrating who you are and sharing that gem with the rest of us!

Words Of Motivation: How Can You Get Motivated Today?

How You Can Get Motivated Today?

By Marlon Acosta, http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marlon_Acosta

Motivation is one of those things that every so often fluctuate. There are days in the week that we can be extremely motivated to get things done and complete our “to do” list ahead of time. Then you have those days that you may feel burdened to even get out of bed. Those days are tough.

So how can you raise above those days and against the odds get through the day with accomplishing something instead of just waiting for the day to end.

Going Back to Memory Lane

I remembered my days as a manager when I had staff members feeling like the day should end immediately because they had no motivation to be there and it was my responsibility to motivate them and hopefully create a better shift for them. Those were tough days for me because at times I felt the same way they did but still I had to motivate them and inspire them to get through the shift.

Yes I was effective for that shift and got them pumped up but did I really impact their life? I would like to think so. I don’t know if it had a long term effect on them or was it just a band aid on a deeper issue.

Change Your Approach to Enhance Your Motivation

I still have challenges with motivation from time to time but my approach has been evolving. Here is a simple question you can ask instead of just pretending that nothing is wrong and forging through that tough day. You need to ask yourself, why do you feel that you have no motivation?

With that simple question all sorts of answers will start to pop into your brain one after another. You will really get into the root of what is causing you to not have the motivation you should have.

Once you start to get a clearer picture of what may be the source of your lack of motivation then you can actually become more effective in changing the course of your day.

There are Different Solutions You Can Try to Increase Your Motivation

One of the best ways to change your motivation from low to high is to change your thoughts. Sounds easy? Well it is, but it is also easy not to do.

Here is an example of how you can handle a situation. Let’s say you had an awesome workout yesterday but today you woke up tired, maybe you over did it and now you feeling it. You get out of bed and are probably thinking I have no motivation, I over did it, today is going to be rough, and the complaints go on and on.

You could also picture different scenario if you like. Let’s say you wrote an article yesterday and got no response on it and it took you three hours to do and today you have to write another and you’re not motivated and the complaints go on and on.

The first thing you need to do is recognize that you have the power to control those thoughts. If you continue to think like that then you will feel like you have no motivation. You see the mind controls the body not the other way around.

Your Thoughts and Motivation are Connected

So here is my tip for changing that way of thinking. Instead of letting those negative thoughts dominate you need to start looking at the benefits or the positives of what ever it is that is lowering your motivation.

Instead of thinking I’m tired from my workout it’s going to be a rough day, you could think I had a great workout I’m a bit tired but I know my body is getting stronger and healthier. You see just by changing you thoughts your motivation will change as well. Now let’s look at the one with the article. I know it took me a while to do the article, I didn’t get the response I wanted but I know I am getting better and my skill is getting better and so on.

By changing the focus from the negative to what is positive you can change the course of your day. Your mind will always throw negative thoughts your way, it’s an automatic process we cannot stop it but what we can do is know how to handle and control our thoughts and know how to replace negative thoughts with positive ones to enhance our motivation and better our day.

To your success,

Daily Motivating Quotes: Number 225

“There is simply too much to be thankful for to waste our time wallowing in self-pity.

Gratefulness must be cultivated.

We need to train ourselves to count our blessings.

To be thankful for what is happening rather than dwelling on what is not.”

Daily Motivating Quotes: Number 224

“Consider the question, ‘Why can’t I do this?’

This question assumes that a) there is something to be done

and b) you can’t do it.

Alternatively, imagine asking yourself, “How can I most easily make this work?’

This question presupposes that a) this can work, b) there are a number of ways this can work, and c) it can be done easily.

These assumptions or presuppositions act as a directional compass and your mind then searches for how to make things work.”

Motivation Word: Finding Your Light – How To Look Inside Yourself And Find Your Passion

Finding Your Light – How To Look Inside Yourself And Find Your Passion

By Felicia Ransome-Stoute,  http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Felicia_Ransome-Stoute

With our hectic lives and the hefty demands our jobs put on us it is hard to see what is truly important. Dreams and goals that we hold dear usually end up being passed over for the more immediate solution or pressing matter. However it is important to find your light, see the dreams and passion within and be able to follow them.

A life that is lived to simply serve is no life at all, we all have hopes and desires and ignoring them or any reason can be damaging to our mental and emotional state. By taking even a few minutes a day to stop and focus inward rather than outward we can begin to learn and see what it is we really want.

One of the easiest ways to drown out the noise around us and learn to focus on our internal thoughts and feelings is to find somewhere quiet to sit. Close your eyes and focus solely on your breathing, take a long slow deep breathe in and count to four as you inhale. Hold that breathe for the count of two and exhale for the count of four, pause for another two count and repeat.

Ignore everything that is going on around you and concentrate on your body, at first you will only be able to focus on the breathing aspect but over time you will learn to use this as a form of meditation. Once you can do this without having to actively think about the process you will find that you can look inwards and see and hear your own thoughts and passions.

The only way we are capable of doing this is by being still and quiet, it may take some time and a number of practices before you are able to listen to your inner voice but over time it will become easier. Make the time to do this every day, even if it is only for ten minutes before you go to sleep or upon waking up and you will soon find that you can see the light within more clearly.

The small break from the chaos of the world will not only allow you to see and focus on your dreams, but it will also help you to feel more balanced and calm throughout the day. Because it is so simple it can be done anywhere at any time, whenever you feel the need to refocus your mind.
